Head of System Support and Project Management

We are looking for a senior IT leader to drive the strategic oversight and delivery of enterprise-wide system support and IT project management. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of organisational IT systems, while leading a portfolio of projects aligned to business objectives, governance standards, and budgets.

Position Overview
The Head of System Support and Project Management is responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, and delivery of enterprise-wide IT system support, project management, and tender solutioning. The role ensures the stability, security, and performance of IT systems while overseeing the successful delivery of projects and bid solutions aligned to organizational objectives, budgets, compliance requirements, and risk frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
System Support & Operations

  • Provide strategic oversight and escalation support for IT systems, including hardware, software, and
    network infrastructure.
  • Ensure installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of system software and applications.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to systems and processes to enhance efficiency, reliability,
    and performance.
  • Ensure system availability, security, and adherence to IT governance and risk controls.
  • Oversee end-user training and adoption of systems and best practices.

Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end project management across multiple initiatives, ensuring delivery within scope,
    timeline, budget, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project plans, and manage execution.
  • Manage project resources, dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular status reporting, milestone tracking, and executive
    updates.
  • Apply appropriate project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) to suit project
    complexity.

Tender Solutioning & Commercial Support

  • Lead IT tender solutioning, translating RFPs, RFQs, and bid requirements into compliant, competitive,
    and technically sound solutions.
  • Collaborate with technical, finance, procurement, and business teams to develop integrated technical
    and commercial tender responses.
  • Contribute to solution architecture, implementation approaches, cost estimates, risk assessments, and
    delivery models for bids.
  • Ensure tender submissions align with organisational capabilities, governance frameworks, and client
    requirements.
  • Support post-award transition from tender solution to project delivery

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to procure systems, services, and project
    resources.
  • Manage vendor performance, contracts, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Act as a key liaison between IT, business units, and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Project Management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, Agile certification).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in system support and project management within an IT environment.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to or leading tender solutioning and bid responses.
  • Strong technical expertise in system administration, network infrastructure, and IT security principles.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. JIRA, Microsoft Project).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
